The journal has been published since 1978. The first 14 copies were still under the title Holarctic Ecology . The new title is a contraction of the words Ecology and Geography . The magazine is published by John Wiley & Sons . Carsten Rahbek is the editor ; Deputy editor-in-chief is Miguel Araújo (as of 2011).
