EconStor is a repository for the field of economics that offers research literature in open access and also makes it searchable via various specialist portals and search engines. The service is operated by the ZBW - Leibniz Information Center for Economics .

Most of the publications come from economic institutions in Germany and are made available on the basis of usage agreements. In addition, individual researchers also have the opportunity to upload their scientific work to EconStor. The publications include in particular working and discussion papers and conference contributions, but also articles from specialist journals or dissertations. The most important economic society in the German-speaking region, the Verein für Socialpolitik , has been using EconStor since 2010 for the online publication of the conference contributions submitted to its annual meeting.

One of the most important online sales channels for EconStor documents is the RePEc database, for which EconStor is also one of the largest content suppliers.

With over 170,000 full texts, EconStor is one of the largest repositories in its field and in Germany.

Econstor uses the handle system to provide permalinks .
