When Ecthyma is a skin disease . The cause is mostly a superinfection of smaller injuries by beta-hemolytic streptococci (E. simplex s. Superficiale streptogenes). A lenticular to coin-sized, sharp-edged and relatively superficial ulcer that appears to have been punched out is typical of the skin lesion . Anamnestically important is a burning, purulent inflammation (pyoderma), especially in the area of ​​the legs. If left untreated, the ecthyma heals with scarring.

Therapy is with the help of local or systemic antibiotics .
