Edelmühle (Au am Leithaberge)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Edelmühle is a historic building in Au am Leithaberge in Austria . A distinction should actually be made between the two independent buildings of the Lower and Upper Edelmühle . Both are located on the Erlbach, which is probably where the name comes from.

history

It was first mentioned in history in 1375 . In the Middle Ages , both mills must have been among the first buildings in this area.

Untere and Obere Edelmühle have always been separate possessions, which were at times in noble possession. Both buildings survived all wars and the Turkish wars without damage. The Untere Edelmühle was run exclusively as a grain mill for at least 400 years. The mill was only stopped here shortly after the Second World War.

Today gastronomy is operated independently in both the Untere Edelmühle and the Oberen Edelmühle.

Mill operation

The buildings have been completely preserved, but the mill operation is no longer traceable except for the mill wheel that still exists.
