Edgar Graf

Edgar Graf (born June 23, 1907 , † May 1, 1966 ) was a Swiss teacher , writer , composer and draftsman .

Graf was a secondary school teacher in Bümpliz , wrote his early work Vers le grand retour , described the Bernese Lorraine and Breitenrain districts in essays and published L'école du rire together with Mark Adrian in 1964 . He created sketchbooks and watercolors in which he depicted scenes from the Bern neighborhood and impressions from his travels. "Some of his Bern drawings appeared together with his essays in the Zeitglocke and later in Die Zeit ." He learned the piano from Franz Josef Hirt and then taught it; he composed the Crucis Comes song . He carried out genealogical research (his family goes back to Jean Le Comte de la Croix ). Diaries as well as night notes showing his “penchant for mysticism” give “an insight into his life”.
