Edifício Franjinhas

The Edifício Franjinhas

The Edifício Franjinhas is an office building in the center of the Portuguese capital, Lisbon . It was built between 1965 and 1969 in an urban-accentuated corner location on Rua Braancamp according to plans by the architects Nuno Teotónio Pereira and João Braula Reis . It got its name from the fringe-like elements hanging down on the facade that were attached as sun protection.

With the multifaceted facade, the architects left the lines of rationality of modernity and approached ideas of facade design again, as can be found in Lisbon on the splendid buildings from the turn of the 19th century to the 20th century.

The painter Eduardo Nery created a relief, the paving and wall paintings.

In 1971 the building was awarded the Prémio Valmor .
