The Edison Plaza is an office building in the Texan city of Beaumont . At 77 meters and 17 floors, it is the tallest building in the city. It was originally built as the headquarters of Gulf States Utilities, but then served as its successor, Entergy. However, these are no longer owners and rent four floors. Due to this fact, criticism spread in the city that the building was not in the interests of the city, as there was too much office space on offer, but there was no demand for it. Only around 20% of the office space is rented.
In addition to the office space, it also includes a museum dedicated to Thomas Edison .
During Hurricane Rita in 2005, it served as the main headquarters, assembly point, and coordination point for post-hurricane work within Texas.
