The Juridica publishing house was founded in 1968 by the printers Heymann & Jahn in the 15th district in Vienna founded.

The aim of the publishing house was to produce brief comments on individual laws. The publisher oriented itself particularly towards the needs of non-lawyers and laypeople and produced numerous easily understandable and practical works on various legal topics. The publisher specialized primarily in security law, as this is carried out by a particularly large number of non-legal users, for example in communities, district authorities , border guards, police and security administrations.

On 30 May 1995, the Juridica publishing house was 100% of Manz acquired and continue to operate as an independent subsidiary. The entire product range of Juridica Verlag has been revised and redesigned. In 2001, Juridica Verlag was also organizationally integrated into Manz Verlag and is now called Edition Juridica .
