Edition Sigma
edition sigma is an academic specialist book publisher based in Berlin. The “sigma” in the name - the Greek letter “S” - refers to the specialist focus of the publisher, namely the social sciences .
edition sigma was founded in 1984 by Rainer Bohn with the aim of offering specialist books on a high scientific level at moderate prices. All manuscripts go through a peer review process before publication . Edition sigma has been an imprint of Nomos Verlag , Baden-Baden, since 2015 .
There are currently more than 500 titles available in the publishing program, mainly from the fields of sociology, politics and public administration. The number of new publications is around 30 per year. Many publications appear in series that are published in collaboration with well-known scientific institutions, including the Berlin Social Science Center , the Hans Böckler Foundation and the Office for Technology Assessment at the German Bundestag .
