Eduard Bernhard Prize
The Eduard Bernhard Prize of BUND Hessen is awarded in memory of Eduard Bernhard for particularly strong commitment to the environment and nature conservation. The prize is endowed with prize money of 1,000 euros, and a sculpture in the form of a globe will also be presented. The winners are selected by the board of the BUND Hessen.
With the awarding of the prize, the BUND Hessen commemorates Eduard Bernhard's tireless commitment to environmental protection and against nuclear energy , especially with regard to the closure of the Hanau company Nukem , which produced nuclear fuel elements.
The following people have been honored so far:
- 2009 Gudrun Pausewang for her book Die Wolke
- 2010 Käte Raiss and Walter Raiss for their many years of commitment in the BUND
- 2012 Traude Ackermann and Hans Ackermann for their many years of work in the Marburg-Biedenkopf district association and in the state energy working group of BUND Hessen
- 2013 Stephan Consemüller for 20 years of work in the BUND local association in Gelnhausen
- 2016 Elmar Diez for 40 years of work in BUND Hanau and beyond.
- 2017 Dr. Rainer Plasa for over 30 years of very successful work in the water specialist working group at state level and in the Darmstadt district and local association .
- 2018 Florian Schwinn for his environmental reporting and the book Deadly Friendship .
- 2019 Brigitte Martin for her more than 30 years of successful work both in the BUND Hessen and in numerous projects in environmental work and education, including the establishment of the "Urban Nature" working group.
