Eduard Alexandrovich Bass urine ( Russian Эдуард Александрович Басурин; Ukrainian Едуард Олександрович Басурін Eduard Oleksandrowytsch Basurin; * 27. June 1966 in Donetsk , Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic , USSR ) is a politician and since autumn 2014 military leader of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic (VD).

biography

Bassurin graduated from the Donetsk Higher Military Political School for Technical and Communication Troops in 1987. After completing his training, he continued his military career until 1997.

Between 1997 and 2002 he worked as the head of a company for the production of PVC films . From 2006 to 2010, Bassurin worked for another company that also specialized in the manufacture of PVC plastics.

In July 2014, Bassurin took up an active political role as deputy commander of the special unit "Kalmius" in the internationally not recognized VD. In the autumn of the same year, the VD People's Council confirmed Bassurin's candidacy for the position of deputy corps commander of the Ministry of Defense of the breakaway republic.

Bassurin has been the unofficial press spokesman for the VD military command since January 2015. At the press conferences, he mainly reports on the course of the fighting on the territory of the VD.

On February 16, 2015, Bassurin was placed on the European Union's sanctions list.
