from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Edward Davis (* 17th century, † probably after 1700) was a buccaneer who, with his ship, the Batchelor's Delight , captured Spanish ships from 1680 to 1688 and plundered Spanish ports, such as Guayaquil in Ecuador in November 1684. He was the successor to the pirate John Cook . His base was Jamaica , but he allegedly also hid gold treasures on Coconut Island and had visited the Galapagos Islands several times . He was possibly the first European to discover Easter Island . Davis finally disappeared without a trace in 1702.
