Eero Aarnio (born July 21, 1932 in Helsinki ) is a Finnish interior and furniture designer. He became particularly famous for his designs for plastic and fiberglass chairs.

Aarnio studied at the Institute of Industrial Arts in Helsinki and founded his own office in 1962. In the following year he designed his famous Ball Chair , which was presented at the 1966 International Furniture Fair in Cologne. This was the international breakthrough for Eero Aarnio and the beginning of a whole collection of fiberglass designs. The similar Bubble Chair was created in 1968. Another important chair that Aarnio designed is the Pastil Chair , which won the American Industrial Award in 1968 .

Eero Aarnio was one of the first Finnish designers to work with artificial materials such as fiberglass, acrylic glass and plastic. His designs are an important part of the 1960s and also part of many SF films .

Eero Aarnio is still active as an interior and furniture designer today.
