Eftim IV. (Bourgeois Ümit Paşa Erenerol ) is the fourth and incumbent patriarch of the autocephalous Turkish Orthodox Patriarchate , which is not recognized by the Ecumenical Patriarchate and has a strong influence of Turkish nationalism .

Ümit Erenerol is the grandson of Eftim I and son of Eftim III. He became patriarch after Eftim III. resigned from his post after disagreements with the Turkish government about the ties between the Ecumenical Patriarch of Constantinople and the Turkish state and Turkey's accession to the EU and died a few weeks later.

Eftim IV took over the patriarchal office in 2002. Under his reign the Church suffered a decline. A community no longer exists, but assets are there. In 2008 Sevgi Erenerol, the daughter of Eftim III., Sister of Eftim IV. And official spokeswoman for the Patriarchate , was arrested, interrogated and subsequently arrested by the Turkish police for alleged links to the alleged nationalist underground organization Ergenekon . It has also been alleged that the patriarchate supposedly served as the headquarters for the organization.

Finally, in February 2008, Papa Eftim IV himself was arrested for questioning because of alleged membership in the organization.
