Egalitarian commune

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Egalitarian communities are voluntary communities of people who live according to the values of egalitarianism .

Equal access to resources and decision-making authority over all community affairs are fundamental characteristics of egalitarian communities . They were created in the USA in the second half of the 1990s . They cannot be assigned to a specific political or religious orientation, but are closely linked to the environmental protection movement of sustainable development . In English they are also called intentional communities .

Decisions are preferably made by consensus or in appropriate democratic votes. If an egalitarian community has assets or economic goods (e.g. income, cars, inheritance, etc.) of the individual members, these are shared fairly within the group.
