history

The association Egri Futball Club was founded in 1907 in the city of Eger , with a population of over 50,000 in northern Hungary. Over the years, the association went through a number of name changes, which are mainly due to the politically changeable conditions in Hungary in the 20th century. Overall, Eger FC can have five seasons in the highest Hungarian football league, the Nemzeti Bajnokság . The club was last found in Hungary's elite league in the 2012/13 season , after finishing first in the eastern group of the second division with seven points ahead of Szolnoki MÁV FC last year . But after the promotion Eger FC could not hold in the beginning in the Nemzeti Bajnokság, after a year they had to relegate after only finishing the season in last place with only fifteen points scored.

After that, Egri FC was even passed through to the third class, because due to financial constraints, they did not receive approval for the Nemzeti Bajnokság II 2013/14 and thus competes in the third class Nemzeti Bajnokság III this season .
