Badge of honor for special services in the field of socialist local history

The badge of honor for special merits in the field of socialist local history was an award of the Kulturbund der Deutschen Democratic Republic (GDR), which was bestowed for work on local history and for services to the development of a socialist national culture; also for work in a cultural and social life. The badge of honor could be awarded to individuals as well as to entire collectives.

Appearance

The badge of honor is 22 × 22 mm, silver-colored and almost square. On its front, it shows in the center a raised hammer and a pair of compasses, from the points of which two curved branches extend. The symbolism is enclosed by the inscription: FOR HOMELANDICAL (above) SERVICES (below).
