Badge of honor for the water and mountain rescue service

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The badge of honor of the water and mountain rescue service was an award of the German Red Cross in the German Democratic Republic (GDR), which was donated in three stages, bronze, silver and gold. They were awarded for outstanding achievements in the water or mountain rescue service in the GDR. The round badge of honor of the mountain rescue service shows a closed laurel wreath with a braided rope-like structure attached to the inside of the medal. The middle itself is determined by a white enamelled medallion that shows the red Maltese cross of the DRK within the inscription: GERMAN ROTES CROSS DDR . The badge of honor of the water rescue service is also enclosed by a laurel wreath, but shows in the middle an implied lifebuoy with holding ropes. The inscription: GERMAN ROTES KREUZ DDR can be read in its four fields . Here, too, the red Maltese cross of the DRK is emblazoned on a white background.
