Badge of honor for photography

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The photography badge of honor was awarded by the German Democratic Republic (GDR) cultural association . It was awarded by the Central Photography Commission in three stages, bronze, silver and gold, for excellent work in this interest group. The round medal with a diameter of 25 mm shows a stylized symbol of a photograph in the center of its front. A central square enclosed by an upside-down square, which in turn is also enclosed by a square that is painted black. The symbolism is reminiscent of a focus. The whole thing is enclosed by the inscription KULTURBUND DER DDR (above) ZENTRALE KOMMISSION FOTOGRAFIE (below), which is separated from the inside of the medal by a ring. The reverse of the medal, on the other hand, shows a cross-soldered needle with a counter-hook.
