Badge of honor for long-term membership in the trade unions

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The badge of honor for long-term membership in the trade unions was an award from the Free German Trade Union Federation of the German Democratic Republic (GDR), which was donated in 1954. They were awarded to veterans of the trade union movement for long-term membership in the following grades:

  • 40 years of affiliation
  • 50 years of affiliation
  • 60 years of affiliation
  • 70 years of affiliation and
  • 75 years of affiliation

Appearance and wearing style

The badge of honor was worn on the left lapel of the skirt on the suit. The first form, which was awarded until 1972, shows in its basic form a red flag on which the symbol of the FDGB can be seen. The flag itself rested on an implied laurel wreath which, however, was largely covered by the flag. At its upper end the number of the respective affiliation could be read, e.g. B. 75 where in this case the wreath, the border of the flag was gold-plated and the number was enameled or painted red. From 1972 the shape of the badge was changed for the last time. From this point on, the almost square badge of honor consisted of the logo of the FDGB framed by a laurel wreath at the lower end of which the year of affiliation can be read in the middle.
