Plaque of honor of the 21st Air Force Field Division
The plaque of honor of the 21st Air Force Field Division was a non-wearable award of the German Air Force during the Second World War , which was donated by Lieutenant General Richard Schimpf in autumn 1943 for outstanding achievements and services to the 21st Air Force Field Division .
The high rectangular label is 175 mm high and 120 mm wide, made of black iron castings manufactured and shows on its front the coat of arms of the Division, one to the village Dretino cascading paratroopers Adler, the one in his clutches Stielhandgranate holds. The place Dretino was chosen because it was the division's first command post. To the right above the eagle is the division standard, a right-hand arrow within a wreath of oak leaves. Under the coat of arms is the five-line raised inscription: IN .ANERKENNUNG.BESONDERER / LEISTUNGEN.IN.DER.DIVISION / DER. COMMANDER OF THE / 21st AIRFORCE FIELD DIVISION / 1942 . 80 horizontal swastikas form the edge of the plaque.
