The plaque of honor of Luftflotte 2 was a non-wearable award of the German Air Force during the Second World War , which was donated by Field Marshal Albert Kesselring , in his capacity as Commander in Chief of Luftflotte 2 , in October 1941 in recognition of outstanding technical services in the "Russian campaign" . As a special feature, it should be noted that the plaque of honor was not awarded, but presented.

The plaque of honor, held in black cast iron with a raised embossed edge, is 186 mm high and 156 mm wide. In its upper section, it shows the Luftwaffe eagle holding an upside-down swastika and the four-line inscription below: FOR / OUTSTANDING / TECHNICAL PERFORMANCE / IN THE EAST . This is followed by Kesselring's signature as a facsimile Kesselring , under which his military rank GENERAL FIELD MARSHAL / CHEF OF THE AIRFLOTTE 2 is written. The accompanying document in DIN A4 format contains the sentence: In recognition / the outstanding technical merits / in the campaign against Soviet Russia / I present the ... the plaque of honor of the air fleet 2. the additional sentence : I associate this with the trust in further vigorous effort to achieve the final victory. .
