Ehsan Mehrabi
Ehsan Mehrabi is an Iranian journalist .
Career
He worked in Iran for 15 years as a parliamentary correspondent for publications such as the daily Etemade Melli. He reported on the protests against the result of the controversial presidential election in June 2009 and also gave interviews to the Persian editorial staff of the BBC.
He was arrested in February 2010 and sentenced to one year in prison, among other things for his collaboration with foreign media. Mehrabi was released on bail in May of that year but was arrested again in January 2011.
After his release from prison in October 2011, Mehrabi decided to flee to Turkey. There he had to wait with his wife near the Syrian border under difficult conditions for the completion of his asylum procedure with the UN refugee agency . After the federal government granted him admission for humanitarian reasons, the couple has lived in Berlin since February 2013.
