The Obertrikotagenwerk Dingelstädt was a company in Dingelstädt in the Eichsfeld district in Thuringia.

history

The beginnings of jersey production in Eichsfeld go back over 100 years. The first knitting mill was founded in Dingelstädt in 1892, and by 1912 120 people were employed. In 1950 the company was nationalized and operated as VEB Obertrikotagenwerk Dingelstädt ( EOW for short ) from 1953 . The parent company was gradually expanded and smaller knitting mills and factories were added in 14 locations in Obereichsfeld and beyond. After all, about 2,000 workers and employees were employed in the entire plant. After the fall of the Wall, the company was privatized and production was severely restricted. After that, some smaller companies continued to make knitwear.

The Obertrikotagenwerk Dingelstädt had production sites in the following locations: Küllstedt, Beberstedt, Silberhausen, Effelder, Kefferhausen, Heyerode, Horsmar, Kirchworbis, Gebra, Bektiven, Helmsdorf, Zella, Bickenriede.
