Donald "Don" Bruce Hume (born July 27, 1915 in Olympia , Washington , † September 16, 2001 in Monroe , Washington ) was an American rower .

Donald Hume, along with John White and Gordon Adam, was on the eighth of the Washington Huskies , the University of Washington's sports team that won the Freshmen Championship at the 1935 Intercollegiate Rowing Association national eight championships. In 1936 and 1937, Hume was a batsman in the victorious eighth of the first team, and in 1938 he finished third in his last year. In 1936 the eighth of the huskies qualified for participation in the Olympic Games in Berlin . The eighth with Herbert Morris , Charles Day , Gordon Adam, John White, Jim McMillin , George Hunt , Joseph Rantz , Donald Hume and helmsman Robert Moch won in Berlin ahead of the Italians and the Germans, with all three boats crossing the finish line within a second rowed.

Donald Hume served in the merchant navy during World War II. After the war, the geologist was involved in the development of oil and natural gas reserves, and he later rose to be President of the West Coast Mining Association .
