history
The first women's wrestling festival was organized by Dora Hari and took place in Aeschi near Spiez in 1980 with more than 80 wrestlers and over 10,000 visitors. The Eidgenössische Frauenschwingverband (EFSV) was founded in 1992 by Jakob Roggenmoser in Aeschi. It is the umbrella organization of the associations organized at the community or regional level. Every year there is a Federal Women's and Meitlischwing Festival. For women, a Swiss wrestling queen is crowned every year for her performance at all wrestling festivals throughout the season.
The girls are awarded the title “Best of the year” in the three categories “Dwarfs” (6–9 years), “Meitli 2” (10–12 years) and “Meitli 1” (13–15 years).
On September 23, 2017, the "Eidgenössische" took place in Schachen in the canton of Lucerne with a record number of 126 wrestlers and 1,100 spectators. The season finale for women wrestlers was organized by the Steinhuserberg Women's Swing Club and the Wolhusen Wrestling Club together with the Federal Women's and Meitlischwing Festival 2017 committee .
