Express freight train

An express freight train (EGz) was a type of train in German rail freight traffic .

Express freight trains ran at high speed and carried express goods . These were perishable goods, live animals or general cargo . Light express freight trains (LeiG) were mainly used for general cargo transport . For tariff purposes , the transported goods were divided into different express cargo classes.
