Eilward

Eilward, from the Saxon aristocratic family of the Ekkehardines, was Bishop of Meissen from 1016 to 1023 .

Eilward, son of Margrave Ekkehard I and Billungerin Schwanhild, also appears under the names Agilward, Elvart, Eilbart, Erward, Ediward, Eduard, Hildeward or Hildebert . He was appointed by Emperor Heinrich II . During his time as bishop his brother Hermann I was Margrave of Meißen.
