The bucket milking system is an automated milking system that is used for milking cows, sheep and goats in tethered housing . It is the simplest and oldest type of milking parlor. In the process, the milk is pumped into a portable bucket (approx. 20 liters volume) by means of a milking machine (milking machine ), which in turn is connected to the vacuum system via a pulsator . The application of the system is labor-intensive and also questionable in terms of milk hygiene , so its use has been declining for decades. In addition to pipe milking systems , milking parlors and milking robots , bucket milking is one of the most widespread milking methods, especially in small livestock farms. In 2010, the bucket milking system was still the most common type of milking system in Switzerland (39.4%). DeLaval is a major manufacturer of systems of this type .
