Introduction to Socialist Production

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The subject Introduction to Socialist Production (ESP) was introduced in connection with the " polytechnology " of the GDR's educational system at the end of the 1950s. The aim was to bring the students in the GDR closer to the connection between the world of work and everyday school life and to introduce qualified workers to production at an early stage . Furthermore, the aim of this subject was to impart "basic knowledge of socialist business administration, the connection between politics, technology and economics [...]".

In addition to the subject “technical drawing”, ESP was the theoretical part of polytechnical lessons, which was supplemented by productive work (PA, until 1970 day of teaching in socialist production (UTP) ), which the students completed directly in the factories. The theoretical part also included the basics of construction , electronics , microelectronics and computer science . Classes were held for grades 7 to 10.
