Enclosure Bindermichl

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Bindermichl housing (also: Bindermichl tunnel ) is a 1,062 meter long housing on the Mühlkreis Autobahn between the Bindermichl junction and the Salzburger Straße junction in Linz , Upper Austria .

history

The winning project of the ideas competition held in 1996 comes from Heinz Stögmüller . The planning started in 1997 by the City of Linz and the Province of Upper Austria was essentially based on this draft. ASFINAG later also contributed to the financing.

During the construction phase from summer 2003 onwards, the restricted passable sections with two-way traffic resulted in severe traffic obstruction. The east tube was opened to traffic at the end of 2004 and the enclosure was completed and opened to traffic on November 27, 2005. The design as an underfloor route was not without controversy, but the traffic noise emanating from the Mühlkreis motorway was largely minimized.

Refurbishment 2011

The tunnel was renovated between October 2011 and November 2012 because the expansion joints in the ceiling were leaking. For this purpose, the Bellevuepark above the tunnel was dug up to the joints.
