Pamela McCorduck

Pamela McCorduck (* 1940 in Liverpool ) is an American journalist and non-fiction author.

She graduated from the University of California, Berkeley , with a Bachelor's degree (BA) and Columbia University with a Master of Fine Arts degree.

Pamela McCorduck is best known for her books on artificial intelligence . Her subjects are mostly science, with psychological aspects being pursued. She also wrote novels also on science subjects (for example, her novels, The Edge of Chaos and Bounded Rationality are about people directly or indirectly affiliated with the Santa Fe Institute ). Pamela McCorduck has written with Nancy Ramsey about women in computer science (which became a television documentary on CNN), and she is also a consultant in high technology industry and other fields.

She has written for Cosmopolitan, Omni, The New York Times, Daedalus, the Michigan Quarterly Review Wired, among others. McCorduck was President of the American PEN Center.

Pamela McCorduck was married to the computer scientist and professor at Columbia University Joseph F. Traub (1932-2015). She lives in New York and is also often in Santa Fe, New Mexico .
