Unified pol
The unit pole is an outdated unit of pole strength of 1.256637 · 10 −7 Wb. This value was determined in the 2008 SI system of units . With the pole strength (also amount of magnetism or magnetic charge ), a term analogous to electrical charge was introduced, so that in magnetostatics it was possible to work with a terminology similar to that in electrostatics .
To determine the unit pole , a magnetic pole is considered; this has the size of the unit pole exactly when it is repelled by a similar pole at a distance of 1 cm in a vacuum with a force of 1 dyn . Depending on the polarity , it is called the positive or negative unit pole.
The magnetic field strength was determined with the help of the unit pole : an oersted is the magnetic field strength at which the force 1 dyn acts on a unit pole.
