Hermit Kingdom

Hermit Kingdom is the derogatory term for a country or society that actually or figuratively isolates itself from the outside world. Korea was often referred to as the Hermit Kingdom in the English-speaking world during the last phase of the Joseon Dynasty .

Today the term is often applied to North Korea . But states such as Bhutan , Oman , the Kingdom of Yemen and Tibet have also been referred to as hermit kingdoms due to the reluctance of their governments to enter into a dialogue with other countries.
