Single horse

The Einspänner is a Viennese coffee specialty and as such an integral part of the Viennese coffee house culture .

history

The drink gets its name from the single horse-drawn carts . Their coachmen held the coffee in one hand and the reins in the other. Thanks to the thick whipped top , the coffee stayed hot for a long time and could then be drunk during a break.

preparation

In a glass with or without a handle, a small mocha (also called black or espresso ) is topped with a generous whipped cream. To this end, icing sugar served. The "double single horse" is prepared with a large mocha. In general, the Einspänner is not stirred, the hot coffee is traditionally drunk with the cold whipped cream.
