Ice crusher

Icecrusher ( US , late 19th century), from an 1893 publication
An ice crusher [ ˈa͜iskrʌʃɐ ] (plural: Eiscrusher, English ice-crusher from ice = ice and to crush = crushed), also ice mill or ice crusher , is a kitchen utensil and bar tool that mechanically crushes water ice into fragments of a few millimeters. The device is usually filled with ice cubes. The result is known as crushed ice or crushed ice (rarely crushed ice or split ice). The grinding takes place with a grinder , which is operated by an electric motor or manually with a crank.
Compared to ice cubes, crushed ice has a much larger surface area per unit of mass . It therefore absorbs the same amount of heat in a much shorter time and can therefore be used for rapid cooling of food and drinks, especially cocktails .
