Ähtäri railway accident

The Ähtäri railway accident occurred on August 5, 1942 in Ähtäri , Finland . A German military train derailed while traveling on a section of track that was being repaired without prior notice. 26 German soldiers died, 22 were seriously injured and 53 were slightly injured. The train was on its way to Vaasa .
