Thomas Busin

Thomas Busin (* around 1959 in St. Gallen ) is a Swiss table tennis player . He is a multiple national champion and the first table tennis professional in Switzerland.

Career

Thomas Busin began his career at Young Stars Zurich. He finished his German studies at the University of Zurich in 1981 in order to earn his living as a table tennis professional. He is the first Swiss table tennis professional. In 1981 he moved to the German Bundesliga for Eintracht Frankfurt , where he stayed for a year. Then he went back to Switzerland to TTC Wil. At the University of Zurich, he resumed studies in the subjects of education, philosophy and journalism.

Between 1977 and 1991 Busin was Swiss champion seven times in singles and ten times in doubles (with Jurek Barcikowski and Stefan Renold ) . From 1977 to 1989 he was nominated for participation in all seven world championships . He also represented Switzerland at several European championships .

His greatest international success was winning the 1981 World Student Championship in mixed with a Korean woman.
