In the railway accident in Paredes de Nava on July 11, 1922, at 2:38 a.m., two long-distance trains collided in the train station of Paredes de Nava . 32 people died.

The accident occurred on the route León - Valladolid . One express train was on the way from Madrid to Gijón , the other from A Coruña (then: La Coruña) to Madrid. The trains were very busy with vacationers. The cause of the accident is said to have been a wrongly set point , as well as the weak peak signals from the locomotives, which would not have enabled the train drivers to recognize this in time.

consequences

32 people died in the accident , including the two engine drivers . In addition, more than 50 people were injured, 19 of them seriously.
