In the Villaverde railway accident on August 4, 1957, a train collided with a small locomotive in Villaverde , Madrid , Spain and derailed . At least 22 people died.

the accident

A heavy troop train brought 800 soldiers back to Madrid from a military maneuver . The train was pulled by two locomotives . About six kilometers from the destination station, the train collided with a small locomotive in Villaverde. All three locomotives and almost all of the cars derailed, some pushed into one another and formed a heap of rubble.

More than 22 people died and 51 were injured.
