Zumaya railway accident
In the Zumaya railway accident on February 15, 1941 near Zumaya ( Basque : Zumaia), Gipuzkoa , in the Basque Country , most of a train fell off a bridge. 26 people died.
the accident
The weather was stormy . There was a power outage. This also affected a train of the narrow-gauge Ferrocarril del Urola whose electric locomotive was also without a supply. The train came to a stop on the Artadi Bridge over the Urola . A gust of wind hit the train. While the locomotive remained on the bridge , its three passenger cars crashed into the river. 26 people died and 120 were injured.
