Ice cream maker is a former training occupation in Germany that existed from 2008 to 2014. He was replaced by vocational training as an ice cream specialist , which in turn expired in 2019.

Ice cream maker was established in June 2008 as a recognized training occupation according to the German Vocational Training Act (BBiG) and the Crafts Code (HwO). The apprenticeship was designed for two years and, in addition to the production of ice cream and small dishes, as well as work in sales and service, also included business aspects. He ceased to be in force at the end of July 2014 and was replaced by the profession of ice cream specialist. Across Germany, around 40 young women and men were trained to become ice cream makers on average during this period.

Ice cream specialist was established as a recognized training occupation in August 2014 and replaced the training to become an ice cream maker. The vocational training was now planned for three years and, in addition to the previous training content, included a more comprehensive gastronomic training. The vocational training was discontinued at the end of July 2019.
