Ice sledge in action

The ice sledge is an aid for water rescue . The sledge itself is buoyant and is used to safely rescue someone who has broken into the ice. Most ice rescue sleds consist of a frame with runners , the actual sled on which a lifeboat or lifeboat is mounted.

This device is used by the fire brigade and by water rescue organizations such as the water rescue service or the German Life Rescue Society (DLRG). Ice rescue sleds are also increasingly used in rapid response groups (SEGs) and are usually loaded on a water rescue equipment vehicle (DLRG / fire brigades), special water rescue vehicle (water rescue service ) or other emergency vehicles.
