Ekushey Padak

The Ekushey Padak ( Bengali একুশে পদক ) is the second highest civilian merit order in Bangladesh after the Shadhinata Padak .

It is awarded annually to people who have made great contributions to the nation in scientific, political, cultural or other areas (see also the list of Ekushey Padak holders ).

The order was first awarded in 1976 in memory of the martyrs who died on February 21, 1952 for the recognition of Bengali . The Bengali name of the order is Ekushey Padak , where Ekushey actually means twenty-one .

The medallion shows the coat of arms of Bangladesh and above and below the coat of arms the words Ekushey Padak and Bangladesh are written in Bengali script . The order is made of bronze and gold.
