Wilhelm Schmidt-Ruthenbeck (born May 11, 1906 in Duisburg , † December 16, 1988 in Mülheim an der Ruhr ) was a German entrepreneur .

Life

His father Karl Schmidt founded Karl Schmidt OHG in the Duisburg inner harbor in 1923 , which at the end of the 1960s, as Spar headquarters in Duisburg, supplied over 500 SPAR stores in the region. Together with his brother Ernst Schmidt (1904-?) He founded the first Metro SB wholesale market in Essen / Vogelheim on November 8, 1963. Schmidt-Ruthenbeck was married to Vera Ruthenbeck and took the surname Schmidt-Ruthenbeck . He had three children: Reiner Schmidt-Ruthenbeck (born 1941), Michael Schmidt-Ruthenbeck (born 1942) and Viola Schmidt-Ruthenbeck.
