Laurin Rinder (born April 3, 1943 as Laurin Martin Rinder in Los Angeles , California ) and W. Michael Lewis (as William Michael Lewis ) were an American producer duo. In addition, they also appeared as musicians and composers both under the name Rinder & Lewis and under the project names El Coco , Le Pamplemousse or In Search of Orchestra . They celebrated their greatest successes in the 1970s during the disco era .

Career

The session musicians Laurin Rinder and Michael Lewis formed a team of producers in the mid-1970s. With the record label Avi they released well over 20 albums with disco music by the early 1980s. These appeared not only under the duo name Rinder & Lewis, but also under faceless project names such as El Coco (from 1975), Le Pamplemousse (from 1976) and In Search of Orchestra (1977). For this they hired various studio musicians. In contrast, the groups Saint Tropez and Tuxedo Junction (both from 1977), also produced by Rinder & Lewis, consisted of permanent members who also performed live.

The numerous hits produced by Rinder & Lewis include Brazil (1975), Let's Get It Together (1976) and Cocomotion (1977) by El Coco and Le Spank (Le Pamplemousse, 1977), Je t'aime (Saint Tropez, 1977) and Chattanooga Choo Choo (Tuxedo Junction, 1978). With the end of the disco era in the early 1980s, the success curve of the producer team also fell.

After 1982 Rinder decided to give up his music career in order to work as a photographer and painter. He is still active here today. Lewis in turn remained loyal to the music industry and continues to work as a session musician.
