  • SwitzerlandSwitzerland Switzerland : The 14 RUAG rangers decommissioned at the end of 2019 were replaced by six Elbit Hermes 900s with the 2015 armaments program. The Hermes was introduced in the Swiss Air Force at the end of 2019 under the designation ADS 15 . To do this, the Hermes 900 had to be adapted for Swiss requirements. Among other things, the Swiss Air Force will operate the drone on diesel fuel , which resulted in an engine that was twice as heavy. This made it necessary to strengthen the cell and to adapt the software . With the new engine, around 15% longer flight times and flights over the Alps are possible. The Swiss company Hermes is also equipped with an aircraft de-icing system , an emergency parachute and a Sense and Avoid System (SAA). With the SAA, the drone can also be operated in civil airspace. These adjustments resulted in delays in the introduction and the drones became around twice as expensive as the original model. Internationally, this version is called Hermes 900 HFE (Heavy Fuel Engine) or Hermes 900 StarLiner .
