Electric Power Research Institute

The Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI) is an American non-profit organization that conducts research on electrical energy supply .

It was founded in 1973. The headquarters are in Palo Alto ( California ). Additional locations are in Charlotte, NC, Knoxville, TN, Washington, DC, Lenox, MA, and Dallas, TX.

The research takes into account aspects of security of supply (independence from oil imports), nuclear safety and environmental pollution. In addition, future images for the use of electrical energy are drawn up. EPRI is funded by membership fees and donations and in 2005 had revenues of $ 276 million.
