Electrotren

Electrotren ( Spanish for 'electric train') is a Spanish manufacturer of model trains . The company is part of Hornby Railways .

Company history

The company was founded in 1951 and began manufacturing model railways in nominal size 0 , on a scale 1: 43.5, for gauge 0. From 1954, model trains in nominal size H0 , on a scale 1:87, for gauge H0 were also produced produced.

In April 2004, Hornby Railways bought Electrotren for 7.5 million euros. As of 2010, Hornby Railway used the term Electrotren as a marketing name for the main distribution of Spanish models. However, there are also some models from other countries, such as France, Switzerland and Germany in the range.

For the H0 gauge range, Electrotren used licenses from the Märklin company for the production of products for the central conductor AC track system for a long time . Electrotren had a track program and an overhead line program that largely corresponded to technically older systems from Märklin and are compatible with them without restrictions.
