An electric grill is a thermal device that is used for roasting food by means of heat radiation ( grilling ) and has a grate. In contrast to gas grills , top heat is used more often , which is generated by means of an electric heating rod . Some electric stoves now have an additional heating element called the grill function.

history

With the advent of electricity and electrical appliances, the first grills were introduced. However, these do not yet use the heating rod that is still in use today, but mostly glow wires. The electric grill only became popular in the 1960s with powerful devices. The breakthrough came with the “acosta party grill” made in Germany, which had a 1.5 kW heating element in a small area. Due to its closed construction, however, it would be assigned to the salamanders today . Skewer models were also used to cook chicken. Today's devices, including those of European brands, are mostly manufactured in China.
